Rossarin: Finding the Beauty in the Everyday

Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dalí once said that 'a true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others'. From this description, abstract expressionist Rossarin is an artist of the truest form; creating original art that invigorates inspiration within her viewers as they are welcomed into a showcase of her most intimate thoughts.

Rossarin draws upon her inner feelings and appreciation of nature to create unfiltered displays of artistic expression, beautifully using colour and texture to mimic the aspects of life that she finds herself constantly inspired by. She leads by the philosophy of discovering the beauty in everything, whilst also inspiring others to find an authentic appreciation of their surroundings to experience life to the fullest.

Abstract expressionist Rossarin grew up in Thailand, just outside of Bangkok in the serenity of the countryside. After studying at university in the city, she moved to Phuket, where she still lives now, to return to an environment surrounded by nature before embarking on a career in the sales and marketing side of property business. With a strong personal connection to the sea, Rossarin soon grew a passion for the superyacht industry; now the yachting ambassador for Thailand where she travels all over the world to discover new products and gain knowledge to strengthen Asia's yachting sector.

During her career in property business, Rossarin worked closely with renowned architects and designers and began to find herself enamoured by the design process from start to finish. Inspired by the entire creative process not just the end result, and with her appreciation of the sea and her surrounding environment in tow, it did not take long before Rossarin began her own journey of creative expression.

Describing herself as an 'abstract expressionist', Rossarin immerses herself in the freedom of the abstract form, translating her most intimate feelings and emotions onto canvas. She uses acrylic paint to mimic the colours and textures that she finds in nature: the perfect medium for creating both rough and smooth surfaces as well as having no restrictions with colour. Rossarin often works on top of the paint once dry to create the exact shade of colour that she feels mirrors her emotions best.

'What inspires me? Every little thing that I see every day is my inspiration,' Rossarin shared. 'I'm inspired by my mixed feelings: when I'm happy, I want to paint as I feel like I need to express certain colours, or if I'm sad, painting helps me to become stronger as I release my emotions onto the canvas. Everything around you can be beautiful as everybody appreciates things differently. I appreciate colour and want to capture it. I appreciate texture and try to recreate the textures that I see. It's an experiment, it's a mixture of philosophy and science, and it's so enjoyable to bring these things together.'

Unlike the traditional way of cataloguing art, Rossarin's work is uniquely organised into 'Moments' instead of collections: each 'Moment' expresses a feeling or emotion illustrated through scenes of nature. These 'Moments' are made up of 'Increments', which depict how Rossarin navigates an emotion, resulting in a brilliant showcase of the raw and vulnerable aspects of human expression.

For Rossarin, every 'Moment' is a unique take on her emotions; captured in a way that transcends traditional experience. Ultimately, to observe a 'Moment' is to witness the way Rossarin has found and lived through this emotion and the ways in which she has internally navigated it.

Moments of : Appreciation encapsulates Rossarin's connection to the natural world as the three Increments display a deep observation and appreciation of the ocean. It showcases the array of wonderful colours and textures found in the environment, as well as how human nature is deeply intertwined within it, as people often seek a close connection to the water.

The first Increment, Solitude at Sea, depicts a surfer amidst a mass of crashing waves. The bold brushwork of the figure combined with the vibrant shades of blue stand out within a wash of lighter colours, representing how people can experience the full vibrancy of life when on the water. Whispering Sails is the second piece in the Moment, subtly depicting how interwoven human nature is with the natural world, as the sea, sky and sails blend with one another on the canvas through swirling colours and brushstrokes. The final piece, A Harmonious Voyage, depicts sailing boats cruising in the distance: the harmony felt at sea is displayed as the viewer witnesses a journey take place. Here, the sea acts as a space of freedom and adventure.

The diversity of Rossarin's artwork is a testament to her ability to capture every emotion through colour and texture. Sunset's Canvas from Moments of : Patience is a stunning abstract landscape, featuring striking colours that are reminiscent of the reflection of a sunset on the sea. Her dynamic use of texture can be seen in Glory Approaching from Moments of : Joy as the bold, streaked brushstrokes combined with sponged, lighter areas create a display of mellow contrast: visually intriguing and emotionally charged.

As well as providing freedom for Rossarin to express herself and capture moments from her own life, her paintings also serve as a means for people to understand and engage with their own emotions. Rossarin herself is equally as inspired by the way in which other people connect with her paintings and why they are drawn to certain colours or textures.

Ultimately, Rossarin's appreciation of life goes much further than the canvas and those who observe it, and it is yet again that we can see Dalí's description of a true artist come to light.
